TH A MENDMENTS All States have now passed a legislation to implement the provisions of the rd and th amendments. During the ten years since these amendments came into force ( - ) most States have had at least two rounds of elections to the local bodies. States like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and a few others have in fact held three elections Can I hope that these urban local bodies will do something for better housing for the slum dwellers? Or at least provide them toilets?
