Types of Correlation Correlation is classified in several different ways. Three of the most important ways of classifying correlation are: Karl Pearson Types of Correlation Based on the direction of change of variables Based upon the number of variables studied Based upon the constancy of the ratio of change between the variables Positive Correlation Simple Correlation Linear Correlation Negative Correlation Multiple Correlation Partial Correlation Non-linear Correlation Type I: Based on the direction of change of variables Correlation is classified into two types as Positive correlation and Negative Correlation based on the direction of change of the variables.
