Chamba rumals Chamba rumals, from the erstwhile hill state of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh were made mainly for covering trays of gifts, when being presented to dignitaries or special guests. They depicted mythological scenes similar to Pahadi Paintings, by using running stitch in outline and darn-stitch in filling. At their best, the scenes appeared the same on either side of the textile.
