doses. Restriction of sodium is essential if ascites is present. Sodium restriction up to 500mg per day is seen with ascites. Low sodium foods should be encouraged.

Fibre Adequate fibre can be given for the patient. In severe cases of cirrhosis, low fibre diet is necessary. Fluid Restricted fluid is given if ascites is present. The fluid requirement is 1500ml per day.

If the ascites is corrected, normal fluid intake may be emphasized. The primary nutrition therapy for constipation is including adequate amounts of dietary fibre, both soluble and insoluble and adequate amounts of fluids.
